Description
William Wirt (1772-1834) was a lawyer, political leader, and author. Born in Maryland 8 Nov 1772, he studied law and was admitted to the bar in 1792. In 1817 he was named Attorney General of the United States where he served until 1829. He attained considerable fame as an author, especially for his series The Letters of the British Spy.
