Description
John Rodgers (1773-1838), active in the military for thirty years, was a senior officer and later President of the Board of Naval Commissioners. In 1824 he resigned his post to become commander of the Mediterranean Squadron. He participated in the defense of Baltimore during the War of 1812. His son, Colonel Robert S. Rogers, married Sarah Perry of Rhode Island.
