Description
Commodore Stephen Decatur (1779-1820), was one of the country’s first great war heroes. He was and still is the youngest person to receive the title of Captain, which he did at age 25. Unfortunately, he was mortally wounded in a duel with one of his former commanders, James Barron, and died at the age of 41.
