An oil on canvas painting entitled "Anson Phelps Villa at North Tarrytown" by George Harvey (1800-1878) Of the Anson Phelps Home in North Tarrytown, NY along the Hudson River (American, 19th Century). Highlighting the architectural gentility of the Hudson rather than its wildness, this scene depicts the Phelps and Aspenwall villas ("Rockwood") overlooking the river; an open horse drawn carriage with two riders approaching a stone Italianate villa via a circuitous drive, a flotilla of steam and sailing vessels behind on the river below, silhouette of a second villa in the distance. Signed lower left: 'Geo Harvey'.
