Jane Pickens, popular Broadway singer, philanthropist, socialite and sometime Newport resident, was portrayed by legendary caricaturist Al Hirschfeld sometime after her career had declined. Pickens is most associated with the Jane Pickens Theater in Newport, which was named for her by its owner Joe Jarvis, a theater lover. Pickens and her sister Patti performed at the theater in 1974. Jane Pickens also painted still lifes; she died in Newport, at her daughter's home.
