Notes
Curio was the premiere print publication of the Rhode Island School of Design's Museum Associates, a program designed to benefit the RISD Museum. Five different intaglio processes combine to create a paper sculptural feel, characteristic of Hassenfeld's usual work. The central figure is based on Hiram Powers' sculpture The Greek Slave, from 1844.
Kirsten Hassenfeld is a graduate of RISD; in Rhode Island her work has been shown at the David Winton Bell Gallery, the RISD Museum and Cade Tompkins Projects; she resides in New York City.
