Herbert Pauly Cummings , from St. Louis, MO, came to teach at the Rhode Island School of Design, where he was head of the European Honors Program 1964-1965. In 1966 he joined the fine arts faculty at the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth, where he taught for more than 20 years, serving as department chairman for part of that time. He exhibited his paintings at the Art Association of Newport in 1959, and in the Annuals in 1961, 1962 and 1963.
