Description
This dress is a monochromatic silk brocaded aquamarine colored evening gown . Created by Charles Frederick Worth (French, circa 1870), it has large scale floral and foliate motifs. The bodice is sleeveless with off the shoulder neckline, arms eye trimmed with blue faille and ivory net, ruched decoration at shoulders, draped bust with bow, laced back closure and bodice it cut to a deep point deep point at front and back. The woman's overskirt has a broad braid trim with chenille flowers at hem, cartridge pleating gathered at back waist, to be worn over underskirt which adds fullness. The woman's underskirt, upper portion of matching faille hidden by overskirt, decorative band of pinked taffeta at hem line with scalloped hem edge.
