Description
An arched rectangular beveled glass and silver dressing mirror by Howard & Co., New York (1884). The plate set into a conforming frame, deeply repoussé and chased with scrolls, flowers and ruffles in the rococo taste. Contained within ornately serpentine border. Frame tilting between two spiral-twisted baluster supports with flame finials. The balusters are deeply repoussé and are chased with scrolls & flowers. Each rest on three scrolled feet and are joined by a stretcher. The back board is of mahogany and has a silver backing with the inscription "M.L. Vanderbilt. 1887," marked and dated 1884.
