Description
A framed portrait of the Duchess of Marlborough, nee Consuelo Vanderbilt (French, c. 1900) by Paul César Helleu. Dry point etching on paper, the subject depicted bust length facing right, with head turned forward toward the viewer. The subject is swarthed in a fur collar, her hair worn up beneath a feathered hat. Louis XVI style giltwood fluted frame accented with a carved ribbon on the bottom, a shield and vine on the top, and rosettes in each corner.
