Description
A two piece woman's ball gown (French, c. 1880-1890) by Charles Frederick Worth. The sleeveless bodice is a Persian melon color ground with large yellow and green peonies features back lace fasten, V-neckline with yellow tulle and bead decoration, and very pointed stomacher, curved for bustle. The square trained ball gown skirt is a Persian melon color ground with peony motif. The weight skirt has a full bustle and elaborate draping. There is also an intricate system of skirt tapes to control the shape of the skirt. Ordered by Ella Rives King of Kingscote in Paris, c. 1890.
