Description
A three-piece mantel garniture (Chinese, late 18th century) consisting of two ewers and a vase made of cobalt blue porcelain. Originally created as Chinese jars that were exported to France, a French metalsmith mounted (c.1755) these jars in gilt-bronze which transformed them into decorative mantelpieces. Both ewers have porcelain covers with floral finials and singular scrolling handles; while the vase is lidded with floral-topped ormolu and two handles.
