Description
A repoussé snuff box (German, c. 1875-1900) made of silver with a circular, gadrooned body. The hinged lid of the box is decorated with two putti posing as hunters amongst a landscape of trees, grasses, and mountains. Both putti hold spears, however the one on the right has a ribbon or sash tied to the end. Stamped into the bottom of the box are three marks, one is obscured and may have been a maker’s mark, the other is a silver fineness of “800” and the last the crescent and crown hallmark of Germany.
