Description
A vase with jockey heads (American, 19th century) made of sterling silver by Tiffany & Co. A tall, flared neck connects to the body of the vase with a raised rim. At the shoulders are two applied jockey heads, the men wear uniforms of collared shirts and hats. A simple body tapers into a narrow handle and a wide base which is decorated with a geometric circle and floral motif. Beneath the base are marks for Tiffany & Co. including an Old English “M” which represents Edward C. Moore (1827-1891), who was the head of Tiffany's silver operations until 1891. The other stamps include “2258 / STERLING” and “6018 / UNION SQUARE”.
