Description
An amphora vase (American, mid. 19th century) made of sterling silver by Tiffany & Co. The tall handles of the vase rise above the flared lip and connect at the neck along a geometric band of triangles and beads. The body tapers down into a narrow handle and a wide, flat base. Beneath the base is the stamp for Tiffany & Co above the number 2100 and “STERLING”. Across from the Tiffany & Co. mark is “6141 / UNION SQUARE” and an Old English “M” which represents Edward C. Moore (1827-1891), who was the head of Tiffany's silver operations until 1891.
