Description
A heart-shaped inkwell (Dutch, c. 1890) made of sterling silver. The stylized heart body of the inkwell is topped with a lid and latch. Both the latch and the hinge are decorated with simplistic heart shapes while the lid features Roman block letter monograming of “M.G.K” (Maud Gwendolen King, 1876-1968). Once opened the body holds a jar of ink. Stamped on the bottom are three maker’s marks, one of the Dutch strident lion, an anchor, and a third unidentified shape. Below them is “STERLING / 215”.
