A miniature armoire pill box (Dutch, Amsterdam, dated 1853) made of silver. A depiction of Lady Justice sits within a scrolling cartouche atop the left-opening, domed-hinged lid of the box. The doors of the miniature armoire are decorated with laurel wreathes and sit above two shallow drawers. Within a large laurel wreath depicted on the back of the armoire is an inscription, reading: “DIT KABINET / HEB IK VANDOEN / HET IS ALWEEREEN / NIEOW FATZOEN”. Two marks are stamped into the bottom of the piece, an unknown maker’s mark of “CH” and the duty, date, and town mark for Amsterdam of a crown atop three “X”s, with the letter “T” (1853) under it.
