Description
A trophy cup (American, 20th century) made of silver, awarded during the 4th Annual Horse Show of 1927 to Anthony Barclay Rives (1909 - 1964). The handles of this trophy gently extend out from the tapered body and include straight edging along the top where they connect to the lip of the cup. Inscribed on the body, between decorative flourish dividers, is the dedication for the award which reads: “PRESENTED BY / RICHMOND HOWITZERS / PONY HANDICAP JUMP / 4TH. ANNUAL HORSE SHOW / 1927 / WON BY / DODO II” On a small piece of rectangular silver attached to the underside of the base is an unidentified, and partially obscured, makers mark of “P Co. 1868”.
