Description
A mug (American, late 19th century) made of sterling silver by Ball, Tompkins and Black. The Colonial style mug features a scrolled handle, simple ringed base, and a ringed rim. An inscription is engraved along the base reading “Gwendolen Ella Armstrong from her godfather Alexander Livingston Kean, Christmas 1913”. The base also has stamps for “BALL TOMPKINS & BLACK / SUCESSORS TO / MARQUAND & Co.” There is also an unidentified makers mark of “J.B” within a rectangle between the lines of text.
