Description
A trophy vase (American, 20th century) made of sterling silver by Tiffany & Co. The body of the vase is bullet-shaped with a rounded rim and incised lines along the rim and above the engravings. On both sides of the trophy are inscriptions. One reads “LOUDOUN PONY AND JUNIOR / LADIES BOARD / CHALLENGE TROPHY / BREEDING CHAMPIONSHIP”. The other reads “WON BY / 1958 – BAB’S BEAU / FOX HOLLOW STABLES / 1959-HEIGH-HO / FOX HOLLOW STABLES / 1960-BRIGAND II / ANTHONY RIVES / 1962-CROWN PRINCE / ANTHONY RIVES”. Under the base of the trophy is “TIFFANY & Co / 17225 MAKERS 7001 / STERLING SILVER / 925-1000 / M”. The Old English “M” represents Edward C. Moore (1827-1891), who was the head of Tiffany's silver operations until 1891.
