Description
A trophy cup (American, c. 1927) made by Merwin-Wilson Co. of New Milford Connecticut. The body of the trophy is a tapered cylindrical form with tall and angled handles attached at its sides. The words “VA STATE FAIR / PONY SHOW / 1927” are etched into the face of the trophy. This prize was awarded to Alexander Barclay Rives (1916 - 1986) by the Virginia State Fair Pony Show in 1927. Under the base of the trophy are two worn inscriptions reading “2681” and “THE MERWIN WILSON / NEW MILFORD CO.”
