Description
A short bedroom chair (American, late 19th century) made of ebonized wood and a burgundy velvet upholstery slipcover over a circa 1880 original brocade. The back of the chair consists of a rounded top with floral carvings along the stile and lower rail. The floral design continues to the apron of the chair, which connects three stretchers to two pilaster front legs with brass casters, and two back square legs without casters. Overstuffed tufted red velvet comprises both the seat and the back of the chair, the later of which curves over the top railing.
