Description
A Moorish style table (Indian, c. 1885) made of wood and mother-of-pearl inlays The sides of the octagonal table feature an arabesque motif and cutouts. Above each cutout is a rectangle with six-sided mother-of-pearl inlaid stars and Arabic script. The star design is featured again below the cutouts, above lambrequins which curve into angled feet. The tabletop is bordered with a raised lattice design which continues along the edge of the interior design. Centered by an eight-pointed star, the tabletop’s arabesque design consists of Arabic script and teardrop shapes whose points end in six-sided stars.
