Description
An ivory model of a ting (or ding) (Chinese, 20th century). The oval body stands on three lion mask and paw-foot legs. The front of the body is carved in sunken relief with the design of a dragon surrounded by two smaller dragons amidst clouds and on the back with two dragons surrounding a pearl amidst clouds. From the side emanate two curved handles with loose suspended rings, each carved with characters. The lid is carved with four raised lion masks with suspended rings and is topped by a large dragon. The whole is raised on a wooden stand.
