Description
A covered tankard (German, late 19th century) made by the Meissen Porcelain Manufactory. The tankard has blue underglaze with gilded decorations of stylized grapes separated by black and gilt sprays of hops. The handle is white and blue scrolled porcelain with gilt trim and features a bearded face thumbpiece attached to a neo-baroque ormolu mount. The underside is marked in blue underglaze with two crossed swords and is impressed "8 / L 180".
