Description
A pair of Louis XV bergères (French, mid-18th century) composed out of carved beechwood. The chairs each have an arched rectangular padded back, padded sides, and serpentine molded frame. The crest and seat rails are carved with floral sprigs centered by trailing leaves; the padded armrests continue to scroll handles. Each is raised on four cabriole legs terminating in scroll feet and headed by flowerheads. The upholstered sections are in a modern dark green velvet. Loose seat cushion and bolster in same velvet.
Label on bottom reads: "CHENUE EMBALLEUR Widener 3 rue de la Terrasse". Another label in pencil reads: "Une Bergère Regence".
