Description
An octagonal-shaped bowl (English, early 20th century) manufactured by Josiah Wedgwood & Sons, designed by Daisy Makeig-Jones (English, 1881-1945) for the Fairyland lustre line. The exterior of the bowl is decorated with large multicolored butterflies against an opalescent white ground, a gold Greek key border decorates the opening rim and circular foot base. The interior of the bowl is glazed in mottled orange and decorated with a central floral medallion, gold butterflies around the sides, and a lattice border around the rim with small landscape vignettes. The underside is stamped in brown with the Wedgwood Portland vase mark, below the vase image it reads “WEDGWOOD / ENGLAND”, to the right of this mark is “10”, and above these it is hand numbered “Z4832”.
