Description
An octagonal bowl (English, early 20th century) made by Josiah Wedgwood & Sons, designed by Daisy Makeig-Jones (English, 1881-1945) for the Fairyland lustre line. Decorated in the “celestial dragons” pattern the exterior depicts a dragon in gold against a mottled blue ground and has a checkerboard pattern around the opening rim and circular foot base, the interior is decorated in gold with a large dragon at center surrounded by smaller dragons and a lattice border around the rim with small landscape scenes against a pale blue opalescent ground. The underside of the bowl is printed with the image of an urn with three stars and “WEDGWOOD / MADE IN / ENGLAND” below and hand marked in gold with the pattern number “Z4829 / F.”
