A jade bowl on stand (Russian, 19th century). The elongated dark green bowl is carved at the end with a fish head mask. The flared circular base is surrounded on the bottom with a gilt metal ring with an enamel floral design and is inset with tourmaline and opal. A finely wrought silver asp coils around the stem and up the underside of the jade bowl, curling over the lip. The snake’s tongue protrudes out and its eyes are inlaid with red rubies.
