Description
A large brush washer (Chinese, Qing Dynasty, 19th century) composed of mottled dark grey jade (nephrite) raised on a carved wood stand. The body resembles a lotus plant, the bowl is in the form of a large, cupped leaf incised with veins, and lotus buds are carved on the exterior in raised relief, their stems curve to form a foot. The removable pierced wooden stand is carved in the form of a group of leaves.
