Description
An engraving entitled “Little Swansdown” (English, 1877) by Georg Zobel (English, 1810-1881) after a painting of the same name by George Adolphus Storey (English, 1834-1919), published by Thomas Agnew & Sons, London. The engraving depicts a young woman from the waist up, her face is turned towards the viewer, and she wears a hat with the brim lifted at one side, a dark colored dress, and a thick white stole over her shoulders. Above the image the print is inscribed with the date and publisher information. Below the image the print is impressed with an “RPX” stamp and inscribed with the painter’s signature “G. A. Storey” and the engraver’s signature “Geo Zobel.” The print is housed in a molded gilt frame with black decoration in the Eastlake style. Original to Chateau-sur-Mer.
