A portrait miniature of Alva Belmont (American, 1896) painted by the artist Amalia Küssner Coudert (American, 1863-1932). The sitter, Alva Belmont (1853-1896), is depicted at bust length with a diaphanous blue/white garment around her shoulders and torso. The miniature of Alva was painted in the first year of her marriage to Oliver Hazard Perry Belmont (1858-1908) at her home at 24 E. 72nd Street in New York City. It is signed by the artist under the frame along the right edge. The oval ivory miniature is housed in an enamel blue frame, with gemstones, and gold accents.
