Framed Photograph of Alva Vanderbilt

19th century

A gilt brass frame (French, 19th century) containing a c. 1880 photograph of Alva Vanderbilt (1853-1933). The frame is decorated with raised fleur-de-lys around the boarder. The portrait photograph depicts Alva from the waist up, she wears flowers and feathers in her hair and a square-neck gown with tulle sleeves, a bodice with adhered floral decorations, and a cinched waist.
