Description
A pair of candlesticks (English, c. 1785) composed of brass. Each candlestick is raised on a circular pedestal base decorated with a raised motif of shells and scrolls, from the base rises a square tapered column decorated with vines and flanking wreathes, these columns support the draped torsos of a female (.2) and male (.1) satyr, their heads support a candle cup decorated with foliate and beaded borders. The undersides of the bases are impressed “973.”
