Description
A Rococo style ewer (American, 1884) by Tiffany & Co., New York. The ewer has a high curved handle, a raised lip with a spout, below which is a satyr mask surrounded by grape leaves, the body is decorated with floral and acanthus leaf bands and gadrooning along the bottom, the whole is raised on a pedestal base. Inscribed around the body is “HAROLD BROWN FROM HIS MOTHER ON HIS TWENTY-FIRST BIRTHDAY DECEMBER 24th 1884.” The underside is stamped “TIFFANY & CO / 6464 MAKERS 6251 / STERLING SILVER / 925-1000 / M” and “11 ½ PTS.”
