Description
A three-piece Neo-Greco mantel garniture set (American, c. 1875) by Tiffany & Co., New York. Composed out of gilded bronze, the set is comprised of a manel clock (.1) and two matching candelabra (.2-.3).
.1 = The clock case is surmounted by a double handled urn with a relief profile at center and cascading chains, these chains are held in the mouths of winged lionesses flanking the circular clock dial which is covered with a hinged glass cover, the clock face has raised Roman numerals and is fitted with two hands, the rectangular base is decorated at center with a raised female mask and the whole is raised on five feet (one at each corner and one at the front center). A hinged door on the reverse of the clock case opens to reveal the clock works, which are stamped “TIFFANY & COMPY.”
.2-.3 = The two candelabra stand on three paw feet with female masks at the center of their circular bases, from the central support emanate three candle arms with cascading chains, drip pans, and candle cups, the central support is topped by a decorative cap finial.
