Description
Portrait photograph of an unidentified man, dressed what may be the uniform of the dress uniform of the Union Army during the Civil War. He is wearing a dark-colored coat, a belt, a shoulder belt, and a hat closely resembling the regulation dress hat of the Union Army, known as the Hardee Hat, with a brass hat devise that would have indicated his regiment. The brim of his hat is pinned up on his left side, indicating that he may have been part of the infantry; and his coat carries no epaulettes or other visible insignia, indicating that he was likely a private.
