Description
A pair of 'Jabberwocky' patten plates (English, c. 1770) from the first period of the Royal Worcester Porcelain Company (1751-2008). Each plate has a twelve-sided petal-shaped rim that is painted with a turquoise edge framed by gilt C-scrolls. The plates are painted at center with two dragons (one perched on a branch the other in flight), a wheat sheaf, and flowering branches throughout in a palette of iron-red, blue, green, and yellow against a white ground.
