Description
A five-piece buffet service composed of a centerpiece and four compotes (English, early 20th century) produced by W. T. Copeland and Sons, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire. Each piece in the service is decorated with frolicking, dancing putti surrounding molded artichoke and leaf decorated bowls raised on vegetal supports. The compotes sit on oval bases, the centerpiece on a molded base, all with a Vitruvian scroll edge. The undersides of the pieces are inscribed in dark green “SPODE / COPELAND’S CHINA / ENGLAND.”
