A blue and white storage jar

c. 1662-1722

A blue and white storage jar (Chinese, from the K'ang Hsi Period, c. 1662 - 1722) with rounded shoulders and a small straight neck. The jar features square panels on either side depicting vases and urns surrounded by stylized decoration. The sides of the jar are painted with a Chinese character and have two holes designed for copper handle fittings. The neck features a key fret border below a band of dots. The jar is without a cover and handles.
