Description
A vase (English, 19th century) after a model by Hugues Protat, manufactured by W. T. Copeland and Sons, and retailed by Davis Collamore & Co., NY. The bowl of the vase is surrounded by three putti with different colored drapery around their arms on a triangular tree trunk shaped base. The opening of the vase has a scalloped edge painted green along the inside rim. Applied to the exterior of the vase and held aloft by the putti is a vine/branch with leaves and pods. The exterior of the white glazed vase bowl is decorated with butterflies and insects. On the underside painted in red is “Old English Period / A.D. 1815.” Below this in light green/blue is the retailer’s mark reading “Davis Collamore & Co. Ltd. / FIFTH AVE & 48TH ST / NEW YORK.” Below this in green is the manufacturer’s stamp reading “SPODE / COPELAND’S CHINA / ENGLAND.”
