A pair of Carrara marble figures representing the Muses of music, “Euterpe”, and history, “Clio”, (Italian, c. 1890) from the workshops of Olivotti & Co., Florence. Both are in the form of a standing female figure dressed in classical garb raised on a short square base.
.1 = “Euterpe”, the Muse of music and lyrical poetry, holds a double flute in her left hand.
.2 = “Clio”, the Muse of History, holds a scroll in both hands outstretched before her.
