Description
A Carrara marble sarcophagus-shaped tub (Italian, 19th century) retailed by Olivotti & Co., installed in the adjoining master bathroom on the second floor of The Breakers. Carved from a single block of marble, the rim of the tub is carved with a decorative lotus band, the sides with curved channeling, and a wave border around the base. It stands on paw feet raised on square bases. Above the feet the tub is carved with curling acanthus leaves. The adjoining faucet has four taps, a set for hot and cold water and a set for hot and cold salt water.
