Description
A Louis XV style bureau plat composed out of Kingwood and mounted ormolu (French, c. 1895) from the workshops of Jules Allard and Sons, Paris. The veneered rectangular tabletop has an ormolu rim above a shaped frieze fitted with three drawers outlined with ormolu moldings and centered with ormolu foliate escutcheons. The reverse has matching false drawer fronts. The sides of the table are fitted with ormolu moldings and the corners are decorated with ormolu mounts in the form of masks above pendant foliage. The table stands on four slender cabriole legs with that terminate in paw shaped sabots.
