Description
A pair of Louis XVI style andirons (French, c. 1895) made by Bouhon Frères, Paris, copied after a 1775 model at Versailles. The andirons are topped by seated putti blowing horns. The putti sit on triangular bases supported by two spirally-fluted tapered legs and a plain rear leg. Above the front legs are flower-heads surmounted by pineapple finials, at the center of the bases are oval medallions topped with ribbon and decorated with applied trophies of roses and crossed arrow quivers with flaming torches.
