Description
A one-handled majolica pitcher (English, c. 1877) in the Aesthetic Movement taste, made by W. T. Copeland and Sons. The pitcher has a squared angular handle with a band of raised circles. The opening rim has a narrow band of raised circles above a larger row of rosettes. The body is decorated with four molded arch panels of palmetto leaves and lotus flowers in raised relief on a chocolate-brown ground. The pitcher is impressed with "12S 6.Gill Copeland" and the British porcelain registration mark for July 2, 1877.
