Description
A Queen Anne tablespoon (American, Newport, c. 1735) made by John Coddington (American, ca. 1690-1743). The spoon has a deep elliptical bowl, the reverse of which is molded with an elongated pointed drop with two smaller rounded drops within. The turned-up molded handle is monogrammed on the reverse with the initials “ILA”, the letter “L” sits above a star form. The handle is marked on the reverse with the touch mark “IC” in block letters within a turnip-shaped punch.
