Description
A pair of tablespoons (American, Newport, c. 1770) made by American silversmith Thomas Arnold (1734-1828). The matching spoons have a deep oval bowl with a chevron-shaped drop on the reverse. The coffin handles are inscribed with the script monogram “ES.” The spoons are marked on the reverse with two touch marks, each within a rectangular punch, the first bears the initials “TA” in script, the second “ARNOLD” in Roman letters.
