Description
A set of six wine glass rinsers (or coolers) (Anglo-Irish, c. 1790) of circular bowl shape with two flanking lips along opposite sides of the rim.
Rinsers were used during meals with multiple wine courses to clean and cool glasses. They would be partially filled with cold water and diners would invert their glass in the water, resting the stem on either lip. The diner would then gently swirl the foot of the glass to rinse it.
