Description
A George III Sheffield plate hot water urn (English, c. 1780), the body is accented with raised draped swags held with large flower heads below a central engraved shield coat-of-arms with a banner inscribed "IL ME SUIT PARTOUT" ("He follows me everywhere") surmounted by a reindeer crest. The sides of the urn are fitted with two wood handles held with silver scroll shaped brackets issuing from applied acanthus leaf mounts. The spout emanates from a large leaf and floral mount and has a wooden handle. The urn is topped by an urn shaped finial. The whole is raised on a square serpentine base with gadrooning above a conforming apron of open fretwork terminating in four scroll feet.
